I am delighted to be the new Chair for IFLA’s Libraries for Children and Young Adults Section. If you are not familiar with the Section, I encourage you to learn more! I joined this Section as the ALSC representative to IFLA in 2017 and became Secretary of the Section in 2019.
On August 25, 2019, at the World Library and Information Conference (WLIC) in Athens, Greece, the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) celebrated 20 years of the IFLA Intellectual Freedom Statement.
ALSC members Christine Caputo and Marianne Martens recently attended the 2017 International Federation of Libraries and Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in Wroclaw (pronounced something like vrot-slav), Poland. Wroclaw is a beautiful city in western Poland, that in 2016 was both the European capital of culture and also the world book capital. The world book capital makes perfect sense based on the number of bookstores in the city, and the beautiful libraries.
ALSC is seeking representatives to serve the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY).
