I hosted my second ever roadshow at the annual California Library Association conference #CLASwingIntoAction. This is a great way to fund conference attendance, support ALSC and meet other librarians. You too can host a roadshow!
WHO: ALSC members who are passionate about supporting the organization
WHAT: staff a booth, give a presentation or host a social event
WHERE: at a state or local conferences related to library service, children’s publishing, or have some connection to library services
WHEN: you decide when and what you can host
HOW: I opted for a social event. I consulted with my co-host, identified a non-conflict time and location then created a Facebook event. The meetup was promoted in conference related Facebook groups, on Twitter and relevant listservs. Dan at the ALSC office sent me a box of promotional material and SWAG to hand out at the conference.
WHY: My place of work did not fund my state conference attendance. It was suggested I apply for roadshow funding. NOTE: ALSC will pay only the cost of registration for individuals. I was pleased to meet librarians from throughout California and promote ALSC to kidbrarians in my state.
