In an effort to help ALSC members make an informed decision before they vote, this morning’s blog post consists of statements from the candidate standing for election as the ALSC Division Councilor, Julie Dietzel-Glair.
Thank you for the opportunity to stand for election to be the ALSC Division Councilor. I believe that the biggest strength I will bring to the ALSC Board is my wide variety of experiences in the public library world. In my 17 years working in libraries, I have been a children’s librarian in a central library branch, an assistant children’s services coordinator for a 22-branch city system, and a branch manager of a small one-room library. I’m now a freelance library consultant that writes professional materials and provides training sessions and I’m lucky enough to still do storytime three days a week. I have been active in ALSC since 2006 and my favorite opportunities have been as co-chair of Organization and Bylaws and as a Priority Group Consultant. I guess you could say I’m a fan of policies and procedures work. Good luck to all standing for election this year.
