ALA Annual 2016

Welcome to Orlando!
Welcome to Orlando!

It’s a weird time to be in Orlando. Most of my coworkers and friends expressed an unusual interest when I mentioned that I would be here this weekend. It’s just a weird time in the world in general… and personally, it’s a weird time for me because I am three months into a brand new position!

This conference is also weird to me because I have been very spoiled to be able to meet up with my friends and colleagues from my MLIS program at ALA Annual… but this year, it’s just me! It makes me feel a little #alaleftbehind even though I am right here!

I’m trying to step out of my comfort zone and try new things like talking to vendors and booksellers more than I have before because that’s what you have to do when you attend a conference on your own! Everyone doing this on their own, get’s a big pat on the back from me! (But, you have to do it to yourself!) So, if you see me– please come say Hi– I will be the crazy librarian talking to myself and trying to appear normal!

At least Orlando seems ready for the good energy and cheer that enthusiastic librarians bring (see below) and you can feel it with all the rainbow and silver pins on vendor tables, along with all the information about how we can give back to Orlando through blood drives, prayer, and more!
