Selfies and photo-ops aren’t just for people. Do you present a storytime? Offer the grown ups a photo op of your books for the session. It encourages them to remember the titles they may be interested in checking out for reading at home with their little ones. Months later, when they happen to be scrolling through their pictures and come across a photo of your last session, it will remind them of the great times they have at storytime.
At today’s ALSC Focus Group, youth services librarians shared thier big and small ideas on children’s services, the future of children’s librarianship, and how ALSC can best serve its members. Today’s meeting was a great opportunity for me to hear the opions of librarians who have years of experience working with children. There are more focus groups planned. So, if you can, stop by and share your ideas. If you are at home, keep checking this blog for opportunities to contribute virtually.
