During my library school days, the professor who taught the cataloging course was a very nice man. I liked him a great deal. I can’t say that I impressed him so much. As he said, not to me directly, but to me nonetheless, “Cataloging is an art, and some people do not have the gift.” I, alas, do not.
I still love classification systems and finding materials with either LCC or Dewey is wonderful. I prefer Dewey though, mainly because it is mnemonic, but also because that is what I learned in my high school’s library.
