A reminder to ALSC members to submit their photos by tomorrow for the ALSC Blog Photo Contest. Thank You For Making Summer Reading Fun!

With school doors opening across the country it’s hard to believe the lazy days of summer have come to an end. Your public library’s hard work this summer has not gone unnoticed. LEGO® DUPLO® and ALSC would like to thank public libraries for the creative ways they have made summer reading fun for children with $5,000 to be used for future children’s programs. And the winner is…

The ALSC Blog is proud to announce the winner in the ALSC Blog Header Design Contest. Allison Tran, Teen Services Librarian at the Mission Viejo (Calif.) Library is the winner with her “Professional and Playfulness” design. Tran’s design received 94 votes on the ALSC Blog poll. Tran is the winner of a certificate for an ALSC online course. Her design is now featured as the new header on the ALSC Blog. Brian Hare (“Sharing and Collaborating”), Youth Services Manager, at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights (Ohio) Public Library and Joella Peterson (“Sky’s the Limit”), Youth Services Librarian at the South Jordan (Utah) Library were the two runners-up. Both will receive certificates for ALSC webinars. The ALSC Blog hosted this contest to display the creativity and skill of ALSC members. With 248 voters, ALSC thanks all the participants and everyone who voted.

The Caldecott 75th Anniversary Task Force is hungry for your ideas…and a piece of this delicious cake.  Participants in the Caldecott mock election at the Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Green, OH enjoyed this thematic treat (submitted by Maria Simon). How are you celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Caldecott medal?  Share your ideas with us and you might win an autographed copy of a Caldecott medal or honor book. Design a New Header for the ALSC Blog!
