It’s the end of November, and you know what that means… It’s almost time for your book group, library, classroom, bookstore, or online discussion group to set up Mock Election programs as we all get excited about – and prepare for – the annual Youth Media Awards (YMAs) taking place in January.

Here on the ALSC Blog, we LOVE to collect the winning titles from Mock programs around the globe. We hope you will share the results of your Mock Elections! We’re waiting for YOU to get us started on the 2024 list, but take a look at last year’s list to get an idea of the type of information we’re gathering for everyone to see and discuss.
This year, for the first time, the 2024 Mock Election Results page will be collecting mock results related to ALL of the YMA awards. With your help, we will be including results from:
- Mock American Indian Youth Literature Award programs
- Mock Pacific/American Award for Literature programs
- Mock Batchelder programs (Here’s a great post on hosting a Mock Batchelder program)
- Mock Caldecott programs (Learn how to host a 3-round “Lightning Mock Caldecott” program)
- Mock Coretta Scott King programs
- Mock Geisel programs
- Mock Newbery programs (Consider a school/library collaborative Mock Newbery Book Club)
- Mock Printz programs
- Mock Pura Belpré programs
- Mock Schneider programs
- Mock Sibert programs
- Mock Stonewall programs
- Mock Sydney Taylor programs
If you’re hosting a Mock Awards program, we encourage you to use the this form to submit your fun pictures and results! The form is now open for all of your submissions.
But, really, we need your help!
- As Maria Trivisonno wrote, You Too Can Host a Mock Award program!
- Attend a program and encourage the convener to let the ALSC Blog know what won.
- Consider offering a variety of Mock YMA Programs.
- Spread the word about the 2024 Mock Election Results page.
- Most importantly, to add your mock election results to this page, please use this form.
I can’t wait to begin building my personal reading list as your results are submitted! Let us know in the comments which Mock programs you plan to offer or participate in this year.
