ALA Midwinter 2014

Watching the 2014 Youth Media Awards at #alamw14

#alayma  It is always a highlight of the Midwinter Conference to attend the announcements of the Youth Media Awards and today was no exception. Frequent cheers and applause punctuated this morning’s program held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The large crowd who got up early to watch the announcements in person sometimes erupted into shrieks of excitement, but the awards were not just being enjoyed at the Convention Center. At libraries and homes around the country, interested readers gathered around their computers to enjoy the live webcast.

A complete list of all the honored titles can be found here.  Congratulations to all the winners. And a HUGE thank you to all the committee members who devotedly read, viewed, and listened all year long to arrive at these winners!

Today was my usual Monday off and my plan was to watch the live webcast of the award announcements. After participating in a Mock Newbery Group and hearing about my co-workers experience at a Mock Caldecott group, I had my favorites that I was cheering for! But mom duty called and I was asked to volunteer in my son’s preschool classroom as a teacher assistant was out sick. I sadly said yes knowing I was going to miss the excitment of viewing the live webcast.

But I greatly appreciate this post with the link to all of the winners. As soon as I got home, I went right to the computer and checked this blog to see if they posted anything about the awards. Thanks!
