This morning Random House had a real treat for attendees at their breakfast preview (which started, magically, at 8:30! At ALA, an 8:30 start time is practically like starting at noon): a panel discussion with E. Lockhart, Dana Reinhardt, Jenny Hubbard, and Jaleigh Johnson.
The authors answered questions about their writing process, where their ideas came from (a question greeted with an “ARGH” by E. Lockhardt and Dana Reinhardt), and gave a one minute synopsis of their books. It was a brief but scintelating discussion, and a great way to kick off the day!
Later on, Random House treated guests to a “best-of” preview, with each publishing house giving attendees a glimpse at their favorite books from their upcoming lists. I appreciated the condensed format, as it gave me insight into a managable list ARC’s I should be on the lookout for on the conference floor!
