Driving to Indianapolis this morning I had a Lucy the bear moment. Lucy is the main character from Peter Brown’s book You Will Be My Friend. While driving I was thinking about how great it would be to attend sessions and hear Peter Brown speak at the ALSC Institute. Then I thought I have to make new friends! This seemed a little scary at first. Then I realized it may be easier than I thought. No awkward small talk required. We all have some something in common! After arriving I quickly made new friends thanks to topics such as what do you do at your library ? What author are you excited to see? I’ve come a long way since my mom gave me a roll of quarters jokingly incase I needed to make new friends at dance camp!
