(For information about the Batchelder Award, visit the (Mildred L.) Batchelder homepage.)
Sunday January 12th, the avid readers and discussion pros of the Colorado Book Evaluators Discussion Group met and made our Mock Choices for the Batchelder, Caldecott, Geisel, Newberry, Printz and Sibert Awards, plus our own category of Graphic novels . This group of readers nominate titles throughout the year that each person thinks may be worthy of the awards. Meetings are held quarterly to discuss and titles are sometimes removed and added through the discussion. This is the final meeting where the decision of the group is made through voting in the way that the actual committees choose their winners and honor books.
