\"2014<\/a>It’s not too late to register for the ALSC Institute<\/a>, but\u00a0advance rates close August 24th, and we are reaching our registration cap, so don’t wait too much longer!<\/p>\n

We’ve been giving you some teasers for what you can expect in our programs<\/a>, and some thoughts on what to do around town.<\/a>\u00a0Here’s a few reasons you may want to come early and stay late (or at least stay UP late):<\/p>\n

The Eat Real Festival<\/a>\u00a0at Jack London square will be going on all weekend, and is a great way to browse the Bay Area’s food scene.<\/p>\n

You’d have to get into town very early to catch the First Friday Art Murmur<\/a> events, but Oakland’s galleries are open. Check out their events listings<\/a>, or just stroll by on Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Music anyone? Maybe Caetano Veloso at the historic Paramount Theater<\/a>\u00a0(where you should make sure to use both the downstairs and the mezzanine powder rooms, to get your full Art Deco fix.)\u00a0Or, check out the calendars at Yoshi’s Jazz Club<\/a>, the Uptown Nightclub<\/a> or The New Parish<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Baseball fans probably already know that the Oakland A’s<\/a> are playing at home during your stay…and looking good. \u00a0 Keep your fingers crossed.<\/p>\n

The Oakland Museum goes Off the Grid<\/a> every Friday night. \u00a0Follow them for detailed updates.<\/p>\n
