Members can save up $35 on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/institute-registration\" title=\"Institute Registration\">cost of registration<\/a> with the early bird pricing. <\/p>\n<p>All special events are included in the cost of registration. On Thursday, Sept. 18, Steve Sheinkin will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/press-releases\/2014\/01\/steve-sheinkin-present-opening-session-2014-alsc-institute\" title=\"Steve Sheinkin Opening Session\">deliver the opening session<\/a>. Other confirmed special events include a Breakfast for Bill program with Tim Federle, Pam Mu\u00f1oz Ryan, Rita Williams-Garcia and Gene Luen Yang, facilitated by Jamie Campbell Naidoo. Andrea Davis Pinkney will deliver the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/press-releases\/2014\/03\/andrea-davis-pinkney-deliver-closing-general-session-2014-alsc-institute\" title=\"Andrea Davis Pinkney Closing General Session\">Closing General Session<\/a> on Saturday, Sept. 20.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute also offers a wide variety of education programs. All of the programs fall within the theme of the conference: <strong>Expanding Our Worlds, Creating Community<\/strong>. Programs will repeat throughout the Institute so that participants have the opportunity to attend eight programs in total.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute is one of the only conferences devoted solely to children&#8217;s librarianship, literature and technology and takes place every two years.
