{"id":8475,"date":"2014-04-03T09:15:57","date_gmt":"2014-04-03T13:15:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?p=8475"},"modified":"2025-06-17T11:07:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T15:07:53","slug":"spring-fever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2014\/04\/spring-fever\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Fever!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t know about you all, but the kids in my library are feeling SPRING FEVER! &nbsp;There are quite a few ways to capitalize on this and harness it rather than just stare at in wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the first things I like to do it take the kids outside. &nbsp;Even though our school is firmly planted in an urban environment, right outside of our front door is a collection of city benches where I can bring the kids for independent reading or for a story time. &nbsp;There is quite a bit of noise out there so I try to make sure any read aloud is short and boisterous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A less weather dependent way of adding some spring to the library, is simply reading some books that are spring themed or related in some way. &nbsp;Some of my favorites are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Clementine and the Spring Trip<\/span>, by Sara Pennypacker<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Curious Garden<\/span>, by Peter Brown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and then it&#8217;s spring<\/span>, by Julie Fogliano<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In for Winter, Out for Spring<\/span>, by Arnold Adoff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What are some of your favorite books to read aloud to welcome Spring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know about you all, but the kids in my library are feeling SPRING FEVER! &nbsp;There are quite a few ways to capitalize on this and harness it rather than just stare at in wonder.
