The committees have been relentlessly reading all year, but if you are an ALSC member, now is your last opportunity to suggest titles for the committees to consider.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Mildred L. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/batchelderaward\">Batchelder Award<\/a> is given to the most outstanding children\u2019s book originally published in a language other than English in a country other than the United States, and subsequently translated into English for publication in the United States.\u00a0 Complete criteria for the award can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/batchelderaward\/batchelderterms\">here<\/a>. Submit your recommendations with full bibliographic information\u00a0to Chair Maureen White,\u00a0at <a href=\"mailto:white@uhcl.edu\" target=\"_blank\">white@uhcl.edu<\/a> by December 10, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/belpremedal\">Pura Belpr\u00e9 Award<\/a> is presented to a Latino\/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.\u00a0 Submit your suggestions to Ruth Tobar, the 2014 Pura Belpr\u00e9 chair at <a href=\"mailto:rtmcoqui@gmail.com\">rtmcoqui@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0 before December 31, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Randolph <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/caldecottmedal\/caldecottmedal\">Caldecott Medal<\/a> is awarded to the artist of the most distinguished American picture\u00a0book for children.
