1 in 5 children in the United States are living with child hunger or food insecurity according to\u00a0Feeding America<\/a>, the leading domestic food-relief charity. \u00a01 in 5 children.<\/b><\/p>\n

But it doesn’t stop there, nearly\u00a01 in 3 African American children<\/a>\u00a0are struggling with food security issues and\u00a0more<\/i>\u00a0than\u00a01 in 3 Latino children<\/a>\u00a0live in food insecure homes. \u00a0Latino households<\/a>\u00a0are also less likely than their African American or white, non-Hispanic, counterparts to receive federal support from programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program).<\/p>\n

Think of the kids you see every day. \u00a0On average, if you see 20 kids at your library in one day, 4 <\/b>are struggling with food security issues at home. \u00a0Although ratios vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, child hunger exists in\u00a0every\u00a0community.<\/p>\n
