\"Cape<\/a>One of the most successful activities of our Summer Reading Club this year was the GoBot. I took a piece of the SRC clip art, enlarged it, added our logo and a barcode, and laminated it, with instructions on the back. We created records for them so we could see how many were actually borrowed. The GoBots could be checked out for 6 weeks, and there are no fines, and we won’t charge if someone loses one. Pictures are posted to FLICKR; I created a gmail account to receive the photos.

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>I am GoBot – take me with you. <\/span>Take a photo of GoBot on\u00a0<\/span>your travels this summer! Show us where GoBot has been by taking a photo, with NO HUMANS in the picture, just GoBot, and send it to us at GoBotSRC@gmail.com.\u00a0 We\u2019ll post to our FLICKR <\/span>account all summer.\u00a0 Return to any AVRL Library.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\"Quetico<\/a>\u00a0Pretty simple! But families have had so much fun with this. we’ve had over 100 pictures submitted. GoBot went camping, surfing, hiking, traipsed all over Nova Scotia, had adventures all over Canada, and even went to Germany. (GoBot was also at the ALA conference in Chicago, but didn’t manage to get his photo taken there.) GoBot seemed to really enjoy the water – lots of beach and waterfall pics.\u00a0 This was so easy and so well received (lots of Tweets and Facebook postings from GoBot) that I will do something similar next year – I love the thought of families thinking about our library while out traveling and exploring.
