All year,\u00a0the ALSC Notable Children\u2019s Books Committee has worked diligently \u2014 reading and re-reading \u2014\u00a0 in an effort to identify the best of the best in children\u2019s books. The committee is now issuing a final call to the ALSC membership for suggestions of items to be considered for inclusion on the 2013 Notable Children’s Books list.<\/p>\n
The 2013 Notable Children\u2019s Books Committee invites ALSC members to suggest titles for consideration for the annual list of notable children\u2019s books. \u201cNotable\u201d\u009d is defined as: Worthy of note or notice, important, distinguished, outstanding.<\/em> As applied to children\u2019s books, the term \u201cnotable\u201d\u009d includes books for all age levels (through age 14) of especially commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry, folklore, and picture books that reflect and encourage children\u2019s interests in exemplary ways.<\/p>\n The evaluation criteria to be used are:<\/p>\n 1. Literary quality The list will be voted on during the ALA Midwinter Conference to be held in Seattle, WA in January, 2013. Only books first published in the US in the 2012 publishing year will be considered.
