Several days ago, we posted a call for suggestions of titles<\/a> for the 2013 Randolph Caldecott Medal. In addition, ALSC personal members are invited to suggest titles for the following 2013 children\u2019s book awards:<\/p>\n

Pura Belpr\u00e9 Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pura Belpr\u00e9 Award is presented to a Latino\/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. Please remember that only books published in 2012 are under consideration for the 2013 award. You may send recommendations with full bibliographic information to Chair Charmette Kendrick at ckendrick-kuhn@cvrls.net<\/a>. John Newbery Medal<\/strong><\/p>\n

The John Newbery Medal is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished American children’s book.\u00a0 For the 2013 award,\u00a0only books published\u00a0during the 2012 calendar year are eligible for\u00a0consideration.\u00a0 Please send recommendations with full bibliographic information to Chair Steven Engelfried at engelfried@wilsonvilllelibrary.org<\/a>.\u00a0For more information about the award, visit the Newbery Medal homepage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Notable Children’s Books<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Children’s Notable Book Committee selects, annotates, and presents an annual list of notable (important, distinguished and outstanding) children’s books for all age levels through age 14.\u00a0 The committee examines board books, picture books, informational picture books, early readers,\u00a0fiction and nonfiction books.\u00a0 Please remember that only books from this publishing year are under consideration.\u00a0 You may send recommendations with full bibliographic information to Wendy Woodfill at notables2013@gmail.com<\/a>.
