{"id":35707,"date":"2026-04-03T06:30:50","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T10:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?p=35707"},"modified":"2026-04-02T21:44:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T01:44:17","slug":"day-2-at-the-2026-pla-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2026\/04\/day-2-at-the-2026-pla-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 2 at the 2026 PLA Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another amazing day at #PLA2026! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today I attended:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Big Ideas<\/em> with Dr. Ruha Benjamin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Understanding First Amendment Rights for Everyday Courage in the Stacks<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Fostering Connections: Building Babies\u2019 Brains Across a Community<\/em> with Gwinnett County Library\u2019s Patty Reeber, the Youth Services Manager <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Author lunch with esteemed authors Ann Patchett and Kate diCamillo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Beyond Storytime: Community-Building Through Music, Play and Partnerships<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also heard about some amazing upcoming titles in Children\u2019s Lit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again, I am physically exhausted and my brain may explode at any moment. PLA, you never disappoint!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Anne Friederichs<\/strong> (she\/her\/hers) is a Children\u2019s Librarian specializing in preschool programming, and collections for birth through 3<sup>rd<\/sup> graders at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.co.dakota.mn.us\/library\">Dakota County Wescott Library<\/a> in Eagan, MN. Anne says that she has always left each PLA Conference with an overload of information, and she is looking forward to that again!\u00a0 She is also anticipating learning from and gleaning great insight from colleagues across the nation!\u00a0Anne says she grew up in a family of teachers.\u00a0 She knew the value of books and information, yet never thought of being a librarian!\u00a0 If she could reread a book for the first time, it would probably be <em>Charlotte\u2019s Web<\/em> by E.B.
