{"id":34984,"date":"2026-01-15T15:32:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T20:32:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?p=34984"},"modified":"2026-01-15T15:32:55","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T20:32:55","slug":"notable-childrens-recordings-january-2026-discussions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2026\/01\/notable-childrens-recordings-january-2026-discussions\/","title":{"rendered":"Notable Children\u2019s Recordings: January 2026 Discussions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year, the ALSC Notable Children\u2019s Recordings committee identifies the best of the best in children\u2019s recordings, and YOU are invited to listen in on their discussions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the charges of this committee is to <em>to select, annotate, and present for publication an annual list of notable audio recordings of interest to children. <\/em>Recordings are evaluated on the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/notalists\/ncr\/ncrsubmissions\">criteria<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>respects young people&#8217;s intelligence and imagination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exhibits venturesome creativity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in exemplary ways reflects and encourages the natural interest of children and young adolescents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>depicts excellence through the effective use of voices, music, sound effects, and language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>maintains high standards in aesthetic and technical aspects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>adapted materials remain true to, expand, or complement the original work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"197\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/notables.jpg\" alt=\"notables seal\" class=\"wp-image-10879\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2026 Notable Children\u2019s Recordings committee will be meeting on January 16, January 22, and January 23 for its final 2026 discussions.
