Whether we like it or not, many of us are officially in the snowy season! It\u2019s time to hibernate and be cozy as we move into the New Year. As we begin 2026, now is the time to think about setting goals to show up as our best selves. You can read more about setting goals in this blog post, New Year, New Goals<\/a>. Alternatively, you could try choosing just one word to theme your year around. You can read about how to do that in this blog post, New Year\u2026One Word<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One adventure or goal you could choose to embark on in 2026 is becoming more involved in ALSC. Whether you are already a member, a YALSA member who will be joining us in 2026, or a prospective ALSC-er, there are so many reasons why this is a wonderful organization to be a part of. There is truly SNOW place like ALSC!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some ways you can be involved in 2026: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read the ALSC blog<\/a>. The blog is chock-full of resources for you to discover and implement in your own library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Expand your knowledge of distinguished literature by reading from the Children\u2019s Notable Media Lists<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Tune in to the 2026 ALA Youth Media Awards<\/a> announcement and familiarize yourself with the most distinguished literature for youth of the year.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Serve on a committee. Fill out the online volunteer form<\/a> to get started. You can also \u201ccrash\u201d a committee meeting<\/a> to learn how things work first!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Learn and expand your knowledge through attending ALSC Online Webinars and Virtual Events.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Write for the ALSC blog. This is a great way to share your experience and expertise with others. Get started by filling out the Interest Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Attend a conference! ALA Annual 2026<\/a> is happening June 26th – 29th in Chicago, IL. The ALSC National Institute 2026<\/a> is October 1st – 3rd in Buffalo, NY.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Meet new people and network by posting in ALA Connect<\/a> forums.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    As you can see, there are so many great ways to be involved in ALSC. Best wishes for the New Year and wherever your ALSC adventures take you in 2026!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
