(My personal favorite readings of these collections are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/connor.clary\">Connor Clary\u2019s<\/a>.) But what if there was a Pride collection you could read with the children you serve&#8230;literally?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-stonewall-book-awards\">The Stonewall Book Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/rrt\/award\/stonewall\/honored\">The Stonewall Book Awards List<\/a>.\u00a0(Sashay away, corporate Pride collections!) Sponsored by the American Library Association&#8217;s (ALA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/rrt\">Rainbow Round Table (RRT)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/rrt\/award\/stonewall\">The Stonewall Book Awards<\/a> has included a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/awards\/books-media\/stonewall-book-awards-mike-morgan-larry-romans-childrens-young-adult-literature\">children\u2019s and young adult literature award<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/rrt\/award\/stonewall\/history\">since 2010<\/a>.\u00a0And you don\u2019t even have to wait for June! Award winners and honorees are announced each January. (We\u2019re not counting the <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6282514\/little-mermaid-ursula-drag-queen-divine\/\">queer-coded Disney villains<\/a>. Also, I was raised Southern Baptist.) So I have no childhood favorites to share with the children I serve. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/rrt\/award\/stonewall\/honored\">Stonewall Book Awards List<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/glbtrt.ala.org\/rainbowbooks\/\">Rainbow Book List<\/a> are an invaluable starting point in developing a Pride collection that reflects the full spectrum of LGBTQIA+ experience.
