Time is running out to take advantage of two ALSC professional award<\/a> opportunities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Distinguished Service Award<\/a> honors an individual member of ALSC who has made significant contributions to, and an impact on, library service to children and\/or ALSC. The recipient receives $2,000 and an engraved pin. Hurry! The nomination deadline is this Saturday, December 23.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Penguin Random House Young Readers Group Award<\/a>, made possible by an annual gift from Penguin Young Readers Group and Random House Children’s Books, provides a $600 stipend to each of up to four children’s librarians to attend their first ALA Annual Conference. The application deadline is Sunday, December 31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Upcoming eCourse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Looking to improve outreach to all children in your community? Join ALSC for “Outreach Services for Underserved Children<\/a>.” This four-week eCourse takes on the challenges of identifying and reaching marginalized and underserved children. Jessica Snow, teen services team leader in Teen Central at Boston Public Library, will instruct participants on how to identify and create partnerships with organizations that serve underserved children, how to create a core collection of materials to use in outreach services, and how to identify goals and outcomes for these services. This asynchronous course runs January 8 through February 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YMAs Live Webcast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 2024 Youth Media Award announcements will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. ET, during LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience<\/a>. Those not in Baltimore for LibLearnX can watch a livestream of the award announcements<\/a>, which will also be available on the American Library Association Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 D\u00eda National Program Registry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don’t forget the 2024 National D\u00eda Program Registry form<\/a> is open. ALSC invites libraries, schools, and community organizations to register their upcoming programs. The registry provides a searchable database showcasing all types of programs that highlight El d\u00eda de los ni\u00f1os\/El d\u00eda de los libros (Children\u2019s Day\/Book Day) and Diversity In Action. In addition, the D\u00eda Program Registry provides a space where planners can share diversity programming ideas and best practices with colleagues around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
