This is the perfect time to remind your community of your role as an Intellectual Freedom Fighter. To help you get ready there is a bunch of information on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bannedbooksweek.org\/node\/4\">Banned Books Week Website<\/a> including instructions for participating in the\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bannedbooksweek.org\/node\/4\">Virtual Read-Out<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I love reading the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/ala\/issuesadvocacy\/banned\/frequentlychallenged\/challengedclassics\/reasonsbanned\/index.cfm\">reasons the classics were banned<\/a> and I use the yearly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/ala\/issuesadvocacy\/banned\/bannedbooksweek\/ideasandresources\/free_downloads\/2011banned.pdf\">challenged book round up<\/a> as a reading list. Looks like I have a lot of <strong>great<\/strong> books to catch up on.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of fantastic banned\/challenged books,\u00a0 my current favorite is Maurice Sendak&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Night-Kitchen-Caldecott-Collection\/dp\/0060266686\">In The Night Kitchen<\/a>. I love to read this aloud to my 2-year-old who thinks that Mickey is the funniest kid in the world. Just think, without librarians like you protecting his right to read, he wouldn&#8217;t even know who Mickey is.
