She shared how this satirical conspiracy theory came to be, and how we can use it to teach our students to be wiser consumers of information. (Dr. Barber shared her slides here:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/BirdsALA23\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/BirdsALA23<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This fits in so well with the work of all types of librarians, whether at a K-12 school, college, or public library. I think I\u2019m pretty savvy about this sort of thing, so I\u2019m embarrassed that I fell for some photographic misinformation (shared on slides 16-17). Especially since a few years ago, I completed a MOOC on the topic called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/learn\/film-images\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Camera Never Lies<\/a> &#8211; maybe I need to take it again as a refresher course!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s so easy to be tricked or manipulated, so I appreciate the resources Dr. Barber put together on the topic.&nbsp;I look forward to sharing them with my school\u2019s ELA and social studies teachers, and even upper-elementary students in a digital citizenship unit of my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s guest post was written by&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Christine Sturgeon<\/strong>&nbsp;(she\/her\/hers).
