This Award honors an individual member of ALSC who has made significant contributions to, and an impact on, library service to children and\/or ALSC.\u00a0 The recipient receives $2,000 and an engraved pin at the ALSC Membership Meeting during ALA Annual Conference. The nomination form can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/shrxGNxaGCn0qQPuw\">here<\/a>. Nominations and supporting materials are\u00a0<strong>due December 9, 2022<\/strong>. Please note that distinguished service is not necessarily for lifetime achievement. A single outstanding program, project or idea can also merit consideration!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And now, back to the original post:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/coms\/als-schlpro\">\u00a0ALSC Professional Recognition and Scholarship Committee<\/a> has an exciting grant opportunity for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Penguin Random House Young Readers Group Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This award, made possible by an annual gift from Penguin Young Readers Group and Random House Children\u2019s Books, provides a $600 stipend to up to four children\u2019s librarians to attend their first ALA Annual Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Criteria&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each applicant will be judged on the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Involvement in ALSC, as well as any other professional or educational association of which the applicant was a member, chair, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New programs or innovations started by the applicants at the library in which they work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Library experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants must:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be personal members of ALSC as well as ALA; organizational members are not eligible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work directly with children in elementary, middle schools or public libraries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have less than ten years, but more than one year, of experience as a children\u2019s librarian by the opening of the Annual Conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No previous attendance at an in-person ALA Annual Conference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More information and the application form can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/profawards\/penguinyoungreadersgroupaward\">here<\/a>.
