If so, you might consider sharing your thoughts in a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=best+practice\">Best Practices<\/a>\u201d piece for an upcoming issue of <em>Children &amp; Libraries<\/em>. These short pieces are 1500 words or less and are intended to cover successes, challenges, and lessons learned from the real world experiences of children\u2019s library staff. Here are a few ideas for getting started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Share your favorite or most challenging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=summer\">summer reading program<\/a>: Share the good and the not so good.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give an overview of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=back+to+school\">back-to-school plans<\/a> : How will you connect with local educators? How does your public library support your local School Library Media Specialists?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflect on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=outreach\">outreach efforts<\/a> : Are there any community partnerships that you are particularly proud of? How do you make and maintain meaningful connections?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current events: Reflect or report on the state of library services to children. Share your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=advocacy\">library advocacy <\/a>\u00a0stories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Looking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?s=future\">ahead:<\/a> What are you excited about?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submissions to <em>Children &amp; Libraries<\/em>&nbsp; are welcomed on a rolling basis. If you are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/publications-resources\/cal\/author-guidelines\">interested in writing <\/a>a \u201cBest Practices\u201d piece, or have another article idea that you would like to publish, please reach out to the Editor, Sharon Verbeten (childrenandlibraries@gmail.com). The journal also welcomes high resolution<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/publications-resources\/cal\/author-guidelines\/photo_tips\"> photographs<\/a> from programming or other library events provided there is a signed waiver from caregivers for any children whose faces are pictured.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Children and Libraries<\/em>&nbsp; is the journal of the Association for Library Services to Children. \u201c[I]t primarily serves as a vehicle for continuing education for librarians working with children, and showcases current scholarly research and practice in library service to children and significant activities and initiatives of the Association\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/publications-resources\/cal\">http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/publications-resources\/cal)<\/a>. Our publication is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/stratplan\">dedicated<\/a> to sharing content to promote the values of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/edi_statement\">equity, diversity, and inclusion<\/a> in all aspects of library service to children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Share reflections on your work and learn from other practitioners. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ala.org\/index.php\/cal\/issue\/archive\">read past issues <\/a>of <em>Children &amp; Libraries <\/em>online.
