She is very excited to attend a live conference for the first time in 2 years. She is most looking forward to finding out about all the great new books coming out this year and eating a breakfast sandwich from a food cart. She&#8217;s been an ALA and ALSC member since at least 2010 and her favorite conference snack is anything chocolate, so if you have some please sit next to her.<\/li><li><strong>Alec Chunn<\/strong> (he\/him) is a Children\u2019s Librarian at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tualatinoregon.gov\/library\">Tualatin (OR) Public Library<\/a>. He\u2019s new to the Portland area, so he\u2019s looking forward to meeting other local librarians and reconnecting with colleagues. He\u2019ll be attending the conference in-person. His favorite snack is Bear Naked granola bites (any flavor). \u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Anne Price<\/strong> (she\/her\/hers) started as the Children\u2019s Librarian for the North Platte Public Library in Nebraska in November 2021. For the last 7 years, she\u2019s worked in youth services in public libraries in Wyoming and New Mexico. She is attending the 2022 PLA Conference live in Portland and is most looking forward to the sessions geared toward community partnerships and outreach. Her favorite conference snack is Cheez-Its with a Diet Dr. Pepper.<\/li><li><strong>Aryssa Damron<\/strong>  (she\/her) is a children&#8217;s librarian with the District of Columbia Public Library system and a member of the ALSC membership committee. This is her first PLA, and she&#8217;s so excited to attend in person, and present in person on Thursday the 24th! Aryssa is looking forward to learning more about some of the great new books coming out this year and meeting other librarians from around the country. Her favorite snack is grapes and pepperjack cheese, always in the exact same bite.<\/li><li><strong>Bettina Wesloh<\/strong> (she\/her) is a Librarian at the Owings Mills Branch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcpl.info\/\">Baltimore County Public Library<\/a>. Bettina is looking forward to discussing how library services have evolved in the wake of the pandemic and effective strategies for bringing back into the doors of the library. She is eagerly anticipating the children&#8217;s author breakfast and learning how to play the ukelele. Bettina and her little black cat Hermes share a passion for breakfast food.<\/li><li><strong>Crystal Faris<\/strong> (she, her, hers) leads the Youth &amp; Family Engagement Team at Kansas City Public Library which includes staff working in the branches, in outreach, and with the Digital Media Lab. She&#8217;s most looking forward to the PLA preconference, <em>Best Practices for Summer Learning Based on Racial Equity<\/em>, plus simply attending a conference in real life. Crystal has never met a piece of dark chocolate she did not like, has ballet season tickets with her son, shares a career with her daughter, and travels whenever possible with her husband.<\/li><li><strong>Elizabeth Serrano<\/strong> (she\/her) has served as ALSC\u2019s Membership and Marketing Specialist for the past five years. She will be attending virtual PLA. Elly&#8217;s favorite animal is an owl and her favorite snack is anything chocolate.\u201d<\/li><li><strong>Melinda Sandkam<\/strong> (she\/her) will complete the MSIS program at University of Tennessee this May. She attended the last in-person ALA Midwinter in Philadelphia, January 2020, but sadly missed out on PLA in Nashville. She has enjoyed attending many conferences, webinars and symposiums online in past two years. As Melinda pursues a job in Outreach Librarianship, she looks forward to attending future conferences in person, but this time around is excited to enjoy her first PLA virtually. Melinda hopes that library associations will continue to offer virtual options moving forward in order to make them accessible to all. Whether in-person or virtual, dark chocolate is an essential snack for making it through a conference day!<\/li><li><strong>Shelley Sutherland<\/strong> (she\/her) is the Youth Services Manager at the <a href=\"https:\/\/skokielibrary.info\/\">Skokie Public Library<\/a> in Skokie, Illinois. She will be attending the conference live and is looking forward to learning from her colleagues. She loves her own baked goods as snacks and her favorite animal is an owl.<\/li><li><strong>Stephanie L. Stoner<\/strong> (she\/her\/hers) is a Youth Services Librarian. She is most looking forward to springing back into the mix of like-minded professionals from around the country- bringing home fresh ideas and and soaking up inspiration! She&#8217;s also thrilled to have the opportunity to hear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.placonference.org\/closing_session.cfm\">Kal Penn<\/a> speak!\u00a0As a children&#8217;s librarian, she is partial to baby animals of all kinds; her favorite &#8211; next to baby humans &#8211; are baby galagos (bush babies).<\/li><li><strong>Tanya DiMaggio<\/strong> (she\/her) is the Assistant Director at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sttammanylibrary.org\/\">St. Tammany Parish Library<\/a> in Louisiana. She is attending in-person and is excited to be with people and to learn new things. Her favorite snack is Endangered Species Espresso Beans and Dark Chocolate bars; she loves all animals equally but maybe felines the most.<\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the coming days, check the ALSC Blog for photos and information.
