Are you looking to improve on your summer programming? Maybe things are getting a little stale and you\u2019re ready to change it up? Why not try something new like attending the National Summer Learning Association\u2019s conference, <\/span>Summer Changes Everything<\/span><\/i>, October 21-23 in Atlanta? <\/span><\/p>\n The conference is the only conference focused exclusively on summer learning. According to their website, \u201cthe conference will provide attendees insights and solutions into the evolution of the field from closing academic achievement gaps to now addressing opportunity gaps and fostering social-emotional learning.\u201d Programs such as a community town hall, workshops, a documentary screening, and an exhibitor hall provide ample opportunity to learn how to spice up your summer programming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The ALSC Summer Learning\/Out-of-School-Time Learning task force will hold a working session to hear from attendees from across the country on Monday, October 21st. The pre-conference session will explore \u201c<\/span>the seismic shift in summer as librarians evolve to create innovative learning environments for diverse learners, community partnerships that make programs sizzle, and data driven practices with quality at the core.\u201d The task force will be there to have a \u201cwins and wonders working session\u201d to determine how best they can meet the needs of the nation\u2019s librarians. ALSC president Cecelia McGowan will be on hand to discuss the state of summer learning. <\/span>NSLA is committing to further partnership with libraries through the years and hopes to build on this year\u2019s pre-conference for library professionals.
