Fun Preschool STEAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The past sixth months, I\u2019ve been finding my programming \u201clegs\u201d at a new branch.\u00a0 With my team\u2019s help, we had some wildly successful summer school age programs, but, with school now back in session, I wanted to offer some additional programming for our younger friends.<\/p>\n<p>A colleague of mine from Cuyahoga County Public Library\u2019s Fairview Park Branch, Jennifer Haag, had presented on Preschool STEAM at an Ohio Library Council Chapter Conference a few years ago.\u00a0 It was a wonderful presentation, offering a full year of monthly program plans.\u00a0 So, to dip my toes in the water, I chose ONE of her programs\u2014October\u2014to try this year.<\/p>\n<p>Quite simply\u2014it was a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>The families and staff performed all the science experiments together, and then participants had the opportunity to spend time at Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math stations liquids will <a href=\"https:\/\/littlebinsforlittlehands.com\/fall-dissolving-candy-corn-stem-activities-kitchen-science\/\">dissolve candy corn and peeps<\/a>\u2014water, hot water, seltzer, vegetable oil, or vinegar?\u00a0 You\u2019ll have to try yourself to see, but I\u2019ll say that peeps may survive the apocalypse!\u00a0 We lifted the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.candyexperiments.com\/2009\/09\/floating-ms-and-ss.html\">M\u2019s off M&amp;M\u2019s<\/a> (a fun and easy project).\u00a0 And the most visually fun experiment\u2014making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidspot.com.au\/things-to-do\/activity-articles\/rainbow-skittles-science-experiment\/news-story\/e8dd4d5450c8fee379583df7f58d6767\">Skittles rainbows<\/a>!\u00a0 I bought cheap plastic plates from the dollar store.\u00a0 Kids make patterns with Skittles around the edge, and then an adult pours warm waters into the center of the plate.\u00a0 Lots of excitement over this project!\u00a0 Finally, we ended this segment with me (an adult) making two <a href=\"https:\/\/littlebinsforlittlehands.com\/pumpkin-cano-sensory-science-activity\/\">pumpkin-canos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21834\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our littlest participant loved the iPad!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Then they were free to explore.
