They came together to name and call out the racism, sexism, and injustice that is present in children\u2019s literature and textbooks. CIBC made a point to advocate and uplift marginalized communities, including African Americans, Latinx, and Indigenous peoples through their journal. Filled with information that allows us to chart not only how far children\u2019s literature has come but also parallels the push for representation today.<\/p>\n<h2>Other topics include<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A study on the preferred term to use when writing about African Americans.<\/li>\n<li>Calls for publishers to examine racist content in textbooks.<\/li>\n<li>Detailed analysis of what makes a book detrimental to the portrayal of the Black experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where to read IBCB<\/h2>\n<p>The University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries, in cooperation with the Cooperative Children\u2019s Book Center, has recently added the complete run of <a href=\"http:\/\/digicoll.library.wisc.edu\/cgi-bin\/Literature\/Literature-idx?type=browse&amp;scope=Literature.CIBCBulletin\">IBCB issues<\/a> published from 1966-1989.<\/p>\n<p>For a bibliography of books reviewed by IBCB check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibcbulletin.info\/\">ibcbulletin.info<\/a>. This database was put together by Dr. Nicole A.
