Ready for #ALAac19!\u00a0 Bags are packed (and hopefully on the plane, too) as I leave sunny, HOT New Orleans for Washington, DC!\u00a0 This is my second ALA Annual conference but my first one out of town as I was lucky last year to have it here in New Orleans.\u00a0 So, I have two checked bags that are completely empty.\u00a0 The check-in agent commented that they were empty.\u00a0 I said, \u201cOh, they won\u2019t be when I get back!\u201d\u00a0 The Exhibit Hall opens at 5:30 p.m. today, and there will be over 900 exhibitors, many of whom give out free ARCs (Advanced Readers Copies of books).\u00a0 Throughout the conference, the Exhibit Hall will also feature authors who will be signing and conducting meet and greets as well as several live stages including Book Buzz Theatre (where you can learn about the newest titles from your favorite publishers and authors), What\u2019s Cooking (featuring live cooking demonstrations from recent cookbooks), PopTop Stage (featuring favorite book genres), Chapter One Stage (featuring new and emerging writers), the Graphic Novel Gaming Stage, and Now Showing @ ALA (featuring screenings of films and documentaries).<\/p>\n
How does one find out the schedule?\u00a0 Download the ALA Conference App.\u00a0 You can scroll through the hundreds of presentations and Meet the Author events and star those you wish to attend.\u00a0 If you are like me, you have three or four starred for the same time block.\u00a0 The opening session with JASON REYNOLDS starts today at 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
