Which means it\u2019s also list season: book list upon book list. How could I not jump in and build my own? I love scouring through the new books my library receives each year and find the hidden gems, the books that may not have a large publisher and marketing campaign but make an impression on me nonetheless.\u00a0 Here are my top 10 for 2018:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Big-Umbrella-Amy-June-Bates\/dp\/1534406581\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1549365977&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=The+Big+Umbrella\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-20414\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/The-Big-Umbrella-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Cover image of The Big Umbrella\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><strong>The Big Umbrella<\/strong><br \/>\nWritten by a mother and daughter duo, this book tells the story of an umbrella that stretches itself wider and wider to protect large crowds from the rain. Unpacking the purse becomes a meaningful ritual celebrating their friendship and family. With clean and sharp lines, the illustrations invite the reader to search out the cats hidden in the drawings.\u00a0 This \u201cWhere is Waldo\u201d like game creates a fun reading experience for children of all ages.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Festival of Colors<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Festival-Colors-Surishtha-Sehgal\/dp\/1481420496\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1549367018&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=festival+of+colors\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-20419\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Festival-of-Colors-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"Cover image of Festival of Colors\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe title, <em>Festival of Colors<\/em>, is such an apt description of this vivid book about the Indian festival <em>Holi<\/em>. The cat becomes a faithful companion and ultimately a family pet. Taeeun Yoo\u2019s soft illustrations perfectly complement the gentle tone of the story.
