Library customer: I\u2019m looking for a new book with a penguin wearing a sweater.<\/p>\n
Librarian: Let\u2019s walk over to the new picture book section and look under Animals. (Point out the new picture book stickers.) I saw the book you’re looking for yesterday. \u00a0So many colorful sweaters! By Marikka Tamura.<\/a><\/p>\n Librarians’ desks are usually covered in books! Books we\u2019re reading, books for storytime, books for a library program but most of all books for sharing with library customers.\u00a0\u00a0 One of my favorite parts of the day is readers’ advisory and finding the perfect book for a library customer.\u00a0 Librarians are experts at staying current \u2013 we’re up date on new books, we display them so they can be discovered and we find new genres.<\/p>\n We review and read journals, websites, hashtags on social media platforms, newsletters from publishers and more. We attend conferences, literature festivals and other author events expanding our knowledge of new authors and illustrators.<\/p>\n Ask yourself the following four questions and discuss with your library staff. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We could talk about resources for days!
