Do you work with small children and their caregivers? \u00a0Then this presentation is for you! \u00a0Julie Crabb from Anythink Libraries showed off her tricks to engaging caregivers and making them WANT to attend your programs.<\/p>\n
Step 1: Make slight adjustments to what you are currently doing. \u00a0Can you add in a pop song or one that caregivers will recognize? \u00a0An excellent suggestion from the audience was that just about every nursery rhyme can be set to the song We Will Rock You. \u00a0The Jbrary YouTube channel has a great example of All the Little Babies set to the tune of All the Single Ladies. \u00a0You may ask why to do something like this. \u00a0Grown-ups will leave your program with ear worms, which will lead to more grown-ups singing in their homes.<\/p>\n
Step 2-Research your city and events. \u00a0What\u2019s hot for parents? \u00a0Does your community offer a coffee story time? \u00a0How about a sip and paint program? \u00a0What can you come up with for both the babies and adults?<\/p>\n
Step 3-Bring the cool stuff back to the library.<\/p>\n
Step 4-Bring the library to the cool stuff.<\/p>\n
Step 5-Get trendy. \u00a0Julie\u2019s great example of a trendy program is a baby wearing dance party. \u00a0All of the attendees were up and moving to Justin Timberlake.<\/p>\n
Step 6-Evaluate, update, and repeat.<\/p>\n
The hard part is that stuff doesn\u2019t stay trendy for long. \u00a0Change it up often and get your friends who know what\u2019s cool.<\/p>\n
