-Whose childhood matters? \u00a0African American children are thought of as more adult than white children at a younger age. \u00a0This means that people may let a 10 year old white child go for doing something childlike, but not an African American child for the same action.<\/p>\n
-Know your community. \u00a0Know your library. \u00a0Who are the community leaders? \u00a0Do they visit your library? \u00a0Why not?<\/p>\n
-You are a change agent. \u00a0Connect with other like-minded people and stay current in your librarianship. \u00a0Find blogs, round tables, and social media.<\/p>\n
-Empower your users. \u00a0Don\u2019t put a lot of effort into fine free items when what your community really wants is signs in their own language.<\/p>\n
