I finally did it. And greeting me in my inbox were the words: \u201cSomeone, probably you, requested to create or renew your password for your list server account alscboard.\u201d Yes, indeed, it <em>was<\/em> \u201cprobably me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But do I dare follow the link to officially subscribe to the ALSC Board Electronic Discussion List? Do I dare follow the conversations and decision making processes of library rockstars? <!--more-->The answer, both for myself and others who are new to the organization is a resounding \u201cYES!\u201d Like Board Member Amy Koester wrote in her \u201cMeet your ALSC Board\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2017\/08\/meet-alsc-board-amy-koester\/\">post<\/a>, \u201cthe Board actively desires the perspectives and contributions of newer members alongside those of longtime librarians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So how can you further plug into the actions and decisions of the ALSC Board?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend open ALSC Board meetings at Midwinter and Annual<\/li>\n<li>Make use of <a href=\"http:\/\/connect.ala.org\/node\/64109\">ALSC\u2019s Board of Director\u2019s ALA Connect page<\/a> to:\n<ul>\n<li>View online meeting transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Access Board Packets (Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/connect.ala.org\/node\/267538\">the most recent Board Packet<\/a>, assembled for the 2017 Annual Conference!)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFollow\u201d the group and receive email updates when new information is posted<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<li>Make use of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/governance\"> ALSC Governance Website Page<\/a> to:\n<ul>\n<li>Find a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/governance\/boardroster\">list<\/a> of your current ALSC Board members<\/li>\n<li>Find a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/aboutalsc\/governance\/bdacts\">summary<\/a> of ALSC Board Major Actions<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Explore the <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.ala.org\/sympa\/info\/alscboard\">ALSC Board Listserv Page<\/a> to:\n<ul>\n<li>Sign up for the ALSC Board listserv<\/li>\n<li>Search archived listserv posts (interested in finding out the tentative program selections for 2018 Annual and the National Institute?
