Break out the cake and candles! Today, the ALSC Blog celebrates a milestone. Ten years ago today, with a simple first post<\/a> by Teresa Walls, the ALSC Blog was born. With today’s post, we now have 4145 published pieces representing\u00a0 a wide variety of diverse topics, interests, and authors, but all working to fulfill the Blog’s stated mission:<\/p>\n

“to provide a venue for coverage of time sensitive news in children\u2019s librarianship, current issues in the field, and programs, conferences, initiatives, resources, and activities of interest to ALSC members and those interested in children\u2019s librarianship.” <\/em><\/p>\n

With significantly over two million page views, every post contributed to the ALSC Blog, but it’s always fun to look at which post topics have received the most notice. Subjects revolving around STEAM, program planning, booklists, diversity, storytime ideas, and timely issues of cultural and social relevance have consistently drawn strong readership and response. Many, many people share in the success of this informational tool known as the ALSC Blog, including the stellar team of ALSC Bloggers<\/a>, the hundreds of guest contributors<\/a>, the variety of volunteer live bloggers<\/a> reporting from conferences around the country, as well as the staff at the ALSC offices who offer consistent support and encouragement.<\/p>\n

The most important component is you, the ALSC Blog reader. Without you, this blog has no reason to exist.
