Are you ready for back to school visits, teacher requests and events at your library?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
As I continue to work on teacher requests, I started to pull together all of my favorite new books matched up with a teacher resource.\u00a0 There are so many amazing new resources available.\u00a0 Teachers are beyond busy so when will they use them?\u00a0 <\/strong>One of the best ways to share new book resources is at the beginning of the school year at a staff meeting.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 Create a pop \u2013 up program at your library or school and rotate out a new book with an activity each week.\u00a0 A few more options:\u00a0 print out a few of the resources and include them in your teacher request books or add the links on the teacher request page on your website or a teacher\u2019s bibliocommons book list.<\/p>\n Where do you find new teacher resources?<\/p>\n I find most of my resources at ALA Conferences, publisher\u2019s newsletters and twitter announcements from authors and illustrators.\u00a0 At ALA in Chicago, I collected a small selection of resource guide treasures (Thank you publishers!).\u00a0 Holiday House<\/a> shared\u00a0Before She Was Harriet<\/em>\u00a0by Lesa Cline-Ransome, illustrated by James E. Ransome<\/a> (November 2017) and included an amazing Educator\u2019s Guide filled with classroom discussions, activities and internet resources.\u00a0 Candlewick Press handed out an activity page with a maze and a sneaky trick matching page for\u00a0Triangle<\/em>\u00a0by Mac Barnett<\/a> and Jon Klassen.\u00a0 So many fun ideas!<\/p>\n I also raced to Kohl\u2019s a few weeks ago (along with every other teacher and librarian) and purchased an armful of new friends including the pigeon and other Mo Willem\u2019s stuffed animals and one fabulous activity book –\u00a0Don\u2019t Let the Pigeon Finish This Mini Activity Book<\/em>! by Mo Willems and You (96 pages of games, events and hot dogs!).\u00a0\u00a0 The activity book is filled with drawing and writing ideas which are perfect for sharing with children, teachers, librarians and more.<\/p>\n What new children\u2019s book resources are you sharing?<\/p>\n Discover a selection of new books and engaging resources for teachers and librarians.<\/p>\n A selection of favorite new books and\u00a0activities: <\/strong><\/p>\n Baxter is Missing<\/em> (Owl Diaries) by Rebecca Elliot<\/a> Publishers: New Resources, Downloadable kits and more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Candlewick Press<\/a> \u2013 My First Book Club \u2013Explore.
