{"id":16333,"date":"2017-08-10T00:01:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T04:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?p=16333"},"modified":"2017-08-10T14:32:32","modified_gmt":"2017-08-10T18:32:32","slug":"dont-blink-by-tom-booth-and-more-book-resources-for-teachers-and-librarians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2017\/08\/dont-blink-by-tom-booth-and-more-book-resources-for-teachers-and-librarians\/","title":{"rendered":"Book Resources for Teachers and Librarians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Are you ready for back to school visits, teacher requests and events at your library?\u00a0 \u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As I continue to work on teacher requests, I started to pull together all of my favorite new books matched up with a teacher resource.\u00a0 There are so many amazing new resources available.\u00a0 Teachers are beyond busy so when will they use them<strong>?\u00a0 <\/strong>One of the best ways to share new book resources is at the beginning of the school year at a staff meeting.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 Create a pop \u2013 up program at your library or school and rotate out a new book with an activity each week.\u00a0 A few more options:\u00a0 print out a few of the resources and include them in your teacher request books or add the links on the teacher request page on your website or a teacher\u2019s bibliocommons book list.<\/p>\n<p>Where do you find new teacher resources?<\/p>\n<p>I find most of my resources at ALA Conferences, publisher\u2019s newsletters and twitter announcements from authors and illustrators.\u00a0 At ALA in Chicago, I collected a small selection of resource guide treasures (Thank you publishers!).\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holidayhouse.com\/title_display.php?ISBN=9780823420476\">Holiday House<\/a> shared\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesaclineransome.com\/books.html\"><em>Before She Was Harriet<\/em>\u00a0by Lesa Cline-Ransome, illustrated by James E.
