{"id":16328,"date":"2017-08-10T12:01:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T16:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/?p=16328"},"modified":"2017-08-09T07:18:21","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T11:18:21","slug":"pura-belpre-call-for-suggestions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2017\/08\/pura-belpre-call-for-suggestions\/","title":{"rendered":"Pura Belpr\u00e9 &#8211; Call for suggestions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pura-Belpre-medal.jpg\" alt=\"Pura Belpr\u00e9 medal \" width=\"200\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pura-Belpre-medal.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pura-Belpre-medal-95x90.jpg 95w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/belpremedal\/belprslct\">2018 Pura Belpr\u00e9 Award Selection Committee<\/a> invites all ALSC members to submit suggestions of titles to be considered for the 2018 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/belpremedal\">Pura Belpr\u00e9 Award<\/a><strong>,<\/strong> presented to a Latino\/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The award is co-sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/\">ALSC<\/a>), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), and the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reforma.org\/\">REFORMA<\/a>), an ALA affiliate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms &amp; Criteria<\/strong> for the award can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/awardsgrants\/bookmedia\/belpremedal\/belpresubmission\/belprmedaltrms\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suggestions can be made for Author or Illustrator awards (or both.)<\/li>\n<li>The books must be published in the United States or Puerto Rico during 2017.<\/li>\n<li>Recipients of the Pura Belpr\u00e9 medal must be residents or citizens of the United States or Puerto Rico.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Fiction and nonfiction books for children published in Spanish, English, or bilingual formats are eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Current REFORMA\/ALSC members can sign in and submit suggestions by completing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/alsc\/belpr\u00e9-suggestion-form-2018\">this form<\/a>, before October 15, 2017.\u00a0 We will give serious consideration to both REFORMA\/ALSC members&#8217; suggestions!<\/p>\n<p>Questions?
