So, there I was Building a Better World<\/a> and I thought of you.  If I could give you just five<\/strong><\/span><\/em> things I want you to take away from my 2017 summer reading workshops, these would be they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

  5. Teen Video Challenge<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Camp Nanowrimo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    NaNoWriMo<\/em> or National Novel Writing Month <\/em>is when participants race to write a 50,000 word first draft of their novel in just 30 days.  The main event takes place in November but Camp NaNo takes place in April and July – it’s kind of a “NaNo Light” – where you can limit your word count to just 10,000 words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Yes, it’s probably a little nuts to try writing 50k words in 30 days, but it is also exhilarating, inspiring, and just plain fun! It forces you to shut off that inner editor and lets you simply fill the page with your story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Hour of Code<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Hour of Code<\/b><\/a> is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week<\/a> and Code<\/b>.org<\/a> reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour <\/b>introduction to computer science and computer programming.<\/p>\n\n\n
