The evening lights of Atlanta are glowing and #alamw17 is off to a brilliant start. I hope to bring the delights and conversations of the day directly to you. 
\n\"\"<\/a> I want you to smell that new ARC scent through your screens. I want you to see the amazing picture books up close. If we are lucky, maybe rub elbows with an author or illustrator. So let’s get started! <\/p>\n

The first event of the evening was a gathering of librarians but this was not just any party, it’s a Holiday House<\/a> party. The publishing house was founded in 1935. The brilliant John H. Briggs ran the publishing company from 1965 to 2016 when it purchased by Trustbridge Partners. I really love their recent title Cat on the Bus <\/i>by Aram Kim. <\/p>\n

\nWhile at the event, I got to meet new librarians and reconnect with former colleagues. This is what I asked them:<\/p>\n

1. What are you reading?<\/p>\n

2. Who is going  win?<\/p>\n

3. What are looking forward to attending? <\/p>\n

Amie Wright, the Manager of School Outreach at The New York Public Library,  is reading two comic series and a nonfiction title: Saga<\/i>, Old Man Logan<\/i>, and Born a Crime<\/i> by Trevor Noah. She really hopes that March: Book 3<\/i> will win for Excellence in Nonfiction. She is most looking forward to marching with her fellow librarians on Saturday. <\/p>\n

\nGwen Vanderhage from Brodart just finished Booked<\/i> by Kwame Alexander and even dog-eared pages. No guesses for winners. She is most excited about going to the collection management discussion on Sunday at 4:30.<\/p>\n

Emily Drew, a collection development library at MyLibraryNYC, is reading Scared Stiff<\/i> by Sara Latta from Zest. She thinks March: Book 3 <\/i>will win for Excellence in Nonfiction. She really wants to meet Nathan Hale (again!).<\/p>\n

This was a great way to kick off #alamw17 and here is proof of the “family reunion”!<\/p>\n
