I know I don\u2019t. Summer reading and learning programs are a major aspect of most youth librarians\u2019 work. There are many other additional responsibilities that are a part of our job, I encourage you to use the resources of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslpreads.org\/\">Collaborative Summer Library Program<\/a>. This organization of member state libraries produces a wealth of information to make your planning and administration of summer reading\/learning less challenging.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP)?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is a consortium of states working together to provide high-quality summer reading program materials for children, teens, and adults at the lowest cost possible for their public libraries.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The consortium includes representation from:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>all 50 states<\/li>\n<li>District of Columbia<\/li>\n<li>American Samoa<\/li>\n<li>Bermuda<\/li>\n<li>the Cayman Islands<\/li>\n<li>Federated States of Micronesia<\/li>\n<li>Guam and<\/li>\n<li>the Mariana Islands<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Membership includes all public libraries in member states, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslpreads.org\/membership-sponsorship-2\/member-libraries\/\">State Representative<\/a> for you to connect with in your state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CSLP Committees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All the financial maintenance, manual creation and editing, and marketing work, among other things are done by the membership through committees. There is currently only one paid administrator, who is phenomenal by the way. Although the state youth consultants\/librarians lead many of the committees, librarians from member states are encouraged to join them. Committees such as one of the program manuals (Children\u2019s, Early Literacy, Teen and Adults) gather and create the appropriate age activities and book lists to be included in the book, the Inclusion\/Diversity committee works to insure that there are programs for various abilities, and the Budget and Finance committee maintains the budget and all things financial. Other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslpreads.org\/membership-sponsorship-2\/member-libraries\/committees\/\">committees<\/a> to be involved in include\u00a0membership, and school outreach so contact your state representative to find out how you can contribute to the resources of CSLP.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully you have already checked-out some of the materials related to this year\u2019s theme \u2013 Build A Better World.
