There have been some changes to the ALSC Advocacy and Legislation Committee since last year so we would like to reintroduce ourselves. <\/span><\/p>\n

What we do:<\/b><\/p>\n

Our charge is as follows: To provide and promote tools and information to empower members in support of grassroots efforts on behalf of libraries, children and families. To promote the ALSC Everyday Advocacy initiative and to identify library staff and workers willing to share stories of successes and challenges in serving children and families. To share, as needed, information on legislation relevant to children and libraries.<\/span><\/p>\n

What you can look forward to from us:<\/b><\/p>\n

Through posts on ALSC Blog, our committee will be sharing resources to help you advocate for your library and the children and families in your communities. We will also do our best to keep you informed about legislative matters and how you can get involved. While we\u2019ll be actively looking for real life examples among our colleagues who are already doing great advocacy work, we hope you\u2019ll partner with us in sharing your successes and challenges in advocating for library services to children and families. Maybe you met with a legislator to ask for support on a library initiative. Perhaps, you knocked on doors in your community to garner support for a library-related bill. We\u2019d like to hear from you! <\/span><\/p>\n
