Expenses to attend IFLA meetings\/conferences are the responsibility of the individual or his\/her institution.\u00a0Future conference locations are <a href=\"http:\/\/conference.ifla.org\/future-congresses\">on the IFLA website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a liaison between the IFLA Section and ALSC Board of Directors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/usbby.org\">USBBY<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0| \u00a0United States Board on Books for Young People<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Term<\/strong>: January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018<br \/>\n<strong>Number of representatives<\/strong>: \u00a01<br \/>\n<strong>How to apply<\/strong>: Complete the <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/29S9ojN\">online application<\/a>\u00a0and submit a cover letter addressed to the ALA Executive Board, a resume\/CV, and one letter of recommendation<a href=\"http:\/\/usbby.org\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13708  alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/USBBY_Logo_1.jpg\" alt=\"USBBY\" width=\"397\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/USBBY_Logo_1.jpg 444w, https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/USBBY_Logo_1-300x64.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"mailto:alsccommittees@ala.org\"><br \/>\n<\/a><strong>Deadline<\/strong>: September 6, 2016<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Responsibilities<\/span><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Attend and participate in the three annual board meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Submit USBBY news to newsletters, journals, web sites, and electronic discussion lists of related organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Recruit new members, nurture current members, and make the Board and Nominating Committee aware of potentially active committee members or volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the official liaison between ALSC and USBBY.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with planning USBBY board meetings at conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with planning USBBY co-sponsored programs at conferences.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The applicant must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have demonstrated experience in evaluating, selecting and promoting children\u2019s literature<\/li>\n<li>Attend all USBBY meetings and conferences during his\/her term of appointment. Expenses to attend USBBY meetings\/conferences are the responsibility of the individual or his\/her institution. USBBY, ALA and ALSC do not provide financial support<\/li>\n<li>Have knowledge of key ALSC services and resources in order to serve as an effective liaison between USBBY and ALSC\u2019s Board of Directors<\/li>\n<li>Be a competent user of new technologies, such as wikis and electronic chat platforms, in order to accomplish work in a virtual environment between meetings<\/li>\n<li>Have demonstrated leadership skills necessary to serve on an organization\u2019s board of directors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Questions?<\/strong> Contact <a href=\"mailto:astrittmatter@ala.org\">Aimee Strittmatter<\/a>.
