Now is when you have to decide which books go home on the plane with you, which books ride in the suitcase to be read soon and which books will be stuffed into boxes and shipped lovingly home via the post office in the back of the exhibit hall.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>My carry-on has\u00a0<em>Moo\u00a0<\/em>by Sharon Creech, <em>The Poet&#8217;s Dog\u00a0<\/em>by Patricia MacLachlan, and <em>The Last Fifth Grade of Emerson Elementary<\/em>\u00a0by debut author, Laura Shovan.<\/p>\n<p>My memory of lunch is sitting one seat away from Lois Ehlert and seeing the joy streaming out of her when she talked about her hopes of inspiring young people to go out and find their own treasures in nature. \u00a0Her beautiful new picture book is\u00a0<em>Rain Fish.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My boxes of books are shipped. \u00a0Boarding pass is printed. \u00a0Pretty well packed. Heading home tomorrow morning with visions of new pbs dancing in my head. \u00a0Can&#8217;t wait to get a copy of\u00a0<em>Teacup..<\/em>incredible book&#8230;&#8230;.<em>and Parachute&#8230;..and&#8230;.Lift Your Light a Little Higher&#8230;&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thus is where the rubber meets the road.
