While teachers, parents or librarians might focus on Picasso\u2019s \u201cCubism\u201d style, his sculptures are also the perfect medium to share with children.\u00a0 I felt joy seeing his works at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moma.org\/calendar\/exhibitions\/1505\">\u201cPicasso Sculpture\u201d<\/a> is now on view with over 100 of his sculptures until February 7, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>My quick 48-hour trip to New York City included <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforfiction.org\/audiovideo\/video\/\">author events<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehighline.org\/activities\/schools\">High Line<\/a> garden walk, <a href=\"http:\/\/whitney.org\">Whitney<\/a>, poetry projects, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.societyillustrators.org\/The-Museum\/2015\/OA\/The-Original-Art.aspx\">The Author\u2019s Voice and Vocabulary in Picture Books at the Society of Illustrators <\/a>and more.<\/p>\n<p>The city was filled with energy and surprising warmth for November.\u00a0 When I arrived at MoMA, I smiled and thought of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scholastic.com\/teachers\/book\/seen-art#cart\/cleanup\"><em>Seen Art?<\/em> by Jon Scieszka.<\/a>\u00a0 I loved walking through the museum.\u00a0 I visited a few old friends (favorite paintings by Magritte and Monet).\u00a0 But most of my time was spent really seeing each of Picasso\u2019s sculptures up close and discovering what materials he used. \u00a0What an amazing exhibit! Everyone together say, Oooh.\u00a0 Each page has a photograph of one part of a sculpture with the question, \u201cWhat is this?\u201d\u00a0 Then I add, What do you see? After going through each part everyone guesses what it is and says at the same time, \u201cOooh! I am a bull\u201d I also talk about what found objects Picasso might have used.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/read.rifflebooks.com\/list\/196935\">More Picasso books on rifflebooks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pablo Picasso program ideas to do at your library:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Picasso used found objects to create his sculptures. Watch or listen to a MoMA video.<\/li>\n<li>Did you know <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moma.org\/explore\/multimedia\/audios\/408\/7284\">Picasso\u2019s <em>Bull\u2019s Head<\/em><\/a> is made from a bicycle seat and handle<br \/>\nbars?
