Photo courtesy of ALSC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thanks, in no small part, to all of your calls and emails, the House of Representatives <a href=\"http:\/\/www.districtdispatch.org\/2015\/12\/ala-advocacy-pays-off-as-house-passes-essa\/\">passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)<\/a>, which will reauthorize the ESEA if approved. As mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alsc.ala.org\/blog\/2015\/11\/fight-for-school-libraries-esea\/\">his blog post<\/a> about the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) last month, ALSC President Andrew Medlar gave us the heads-up that this <strong>second call to action<\/strong> would be critical to ensure that a reauthorization includes these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/advocacy\/sites\/ala.org.advocacy\/files\/content\/advleg\/federallegislation\/ALA - ESEA Conference Overview %2811-30-15%29.pdf\">hard-fought school library provisions.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now is the time for the final push! The Senate is expected to vote early next week and it is critical that both of your US Senators hear from you. Ask them to, <strong>\u201cvote YES on the ESSA Conference Report\u201d<\/strong> and take a moment to let them know how librarians and school libraries positively impact children\u2019s lives and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/ala\/home\">ALA\u2019s Action Center<\/a> to locate your Senators and stay up to date on <strong>this historic vote<\/strong>.
